Ethernet Adapter Only 100mbps
Realtek 8111f gigabit lan not working after upgrade to windows 10 in network and sharing.
Ethernet adapter only 100mbps. I have ruled out the following. From research this seems to be a working method however the connection is auto negotiated by my network switch to be only 100mbps. Hello since i bought my new desktop computer i was never able to use the gigabit ethernet driver problem adapters status shows only 100mpbs. The router router has 4 x gigabit ports and i wired a laptop directly to it to test.
This means that the negotiated connection speed between the ethernet adapter and whatever device it is plugged into is 100 mbps. They however were still stuck at 100mbps. If you re getting 150 mbps then your ethernet connection isn t running at 100 mbps. I ve also found that some cards are pickier about cables than others.
But knowing we ha tp link gigabit network adapter stays at 100mbps tp link soho community. I update the os and boom the network is stuck at 100mbps. But frequently it s cheaper just to pick up a couple of spare cat6 cables on ebay. The system is a late 2013 27 inch imac.
Also it s never a good idea to use internet connection speeds to determine the link speed of your network adapter which is negotiated between the pc and whatever is physically on the other end of the cable. I m using windows 10 and i ve a asus h110 m c br motherboard. I m using cat 5e cable. Interesting thing to note even windows 10 running in bootcamp failed to connect faster than 100mbps.
My notebook with windows 10 using the desktop cable is able to connect do gigabit. I set them up with a new windows 10 pc and all drivers up to date. When in doubt swap the ethernet cable for a known good one if you re only getting 100mbps on cat5e or better. When everything is working correctly this speed will read as 1 0 gbps.
The only setting that is of concern for a gigabit connection is that the adapter is set to auto negotiation. It s has a perfectly functional 1gbps ethernet for years. Windows 10 seems to have borked my wired ethernet this is supposed to be a gigabit adapter but it s only running at 100mbps now. But only after updating to macos high sierra.
On my pc i saw i was only getting around 80 90 mb download and 20 upload which is decent. So i put in a usb to ethernet adapter to hold them off while i set up a replacement pc. In this tutorial i am showing you how to increase your local area connection internet speed up to 10x.
